SOLIDWORKS 2016 What’s New MBD– #SW2016

SOLIDWORKS 2016 continues to improve the Model Based Definition tool. The new release brings improvements in dimensioning, the ability to add product manufacturing information to assemblies, and additional customization options for 3D PDF templates.

In the prior release of MBD, 3D views were able to be captured for assemblies. With SOLIDWORKS 2016, PMI can be directly applied to assemblies the same way it is applied to parts.

SOLIDWORKS 2016 also brings improvements to DimXpert dimensions. Basic dimensions can now be added directly to the model from the toolbar.

The smart dimension tool can be used to add DimXpert dimensions. Edges can also be selected in addition to faces.

The 3D PDF Template editor has also been improved. With SOLIDWORKS 2016 we can create PDF templates with multiple sheets, multiple BOMs, and independent viewports.
