SOLIDWORKS 2016 What’s New – Installation – #SW2016

SOLIDWORKS 2016 offers a few new options for installing the software. The first enhancement will make the CAD Administrators happy. You are now allowed to deploy installs based on IP addresses or IP ranges. This eliminates the need to list all of the machine names in the admin image. This will be a time saver, especially if a machine gets renamed.

Installation errors no longer mean you are stuck trying to figure out what has happened. Now you will get a link to Online Solutions. This takes you to documented solution in the Customer Portal, Help menu, or the Knowledge base. You are also provided with a new link to Resume installing the additional products that did not fail.

When working with multiple versions of SOLIDWORKS, administrators will now be able to control which version of SOLIDWORKS users will be able to access. A new FlexLM options file parameter will allow you to block or allow access to a specific version of SOLIDWORKS by specified user.

These new options give us greater flexibility in installing and managing your SOLIDWORKS installs. If you have any specific questions regarding this new functionality, be sure to contact technical support.

We hope this part of the What’s New series gives you a better understanding of the new features and functions of SOLIDWORKS 2016. Please check back to the CATI Blog as the CATI Support Team will continue to break down many of the new items in SOLIDWORKS 2016. All of these articles will be stored in the category of "SOLIDWORKS What's New."
