SOLIDWORKS 2016 What’s New – Flow Simulation – #SW2016

There are many improvements in Flow Simulation with SOLIDWORKS 2016 release. Here are a few.

Mesh setting: Creating a well-defined mesh is critical to capturing geometric details and ensures decent results. However, the new tools help with both creating better mesh and thus ensuring good results. e.g: there are automated tools to generate a uniform mesh. It makes the process smooth and saves time. Further the ability to preview mesh gives a window into details that will be captured. My favorite is one where you can automatically fill gaps of a specified size with solid elements. This is very critical in sheet metal components where the design by default will have gaps or spaces.

Mirror Results for Symmetrical Models

Symmetry has always been an awesome tool to solve complex symmetrical bodies or to speed up calculations. However, while presenting data not everyone can imagine the exact outputs. Cut plots and surface plots can mirror results across symmetrical planes.

We hope this part of the What’s New series gives you a better understanding of the new features and functions of SOLIDWORKS 2016. Please check back to the CATI Blog as the CATI Support Team will continue to break down many of the new items in SOLIDWORKS 2016. All of these articles will be stored in the category of "SOLIDWORKS What's New."
